Let's look at the 1 in 5 chance that even his own advisers say he won't run. I think it's greater than that. We've been here before with the Big Media clamoring for an attractive black candidate to make history. In 1995 there was a similar push to get Colin Powell to run, but he wisely demurred, citing family concerns about his security and the belief that he couldn't win the GOP nomination. Mr. Obama may similarly surprise everyone by not running this time. That may be wind up being best both for the country and for Mr. Obama.

...

But Mr. Obama is also smart enough to know that he has become too popular too quickly. His supporters are doing him a disservice with their indifference to his lack of experience. "I don't particularly want to wait until he is ready," novelist Nora Ephron told PBS. "I'm ready for Barack Obama."

...

Only for so long will Mr. Obama's sparkling personality help him avoid troubling questions about his ideological record. The fact that he originally opposed the war in Iraq would help him with primary voters, but it's unclear how many Democrats want to plump for someone who, according to National Journal, has a more liberal voting record than Hillary Clinton. Last year Mr. Obama had a perfect 100% voting record from both the Americans for Democratic Action and the AFL-CIO.

His record as a state legislator is even more liberal. In 1996, he spoke out against the Defense of Marriage Act, which the Senate approved 85-14 and Mr. Clinton signed into law. He twice voted "present" on a bill to ban partial-birth abortions. In 1999 he was the only state senator to oppose a law that prohibited early prison release for sex offenders. Is anyone naive enough to believe Mrs. Clinton wouldn't use those positions as evidence that he couldn't win?

I'm inclined to agree that my crazy-liberal Junior Senator is way too green - let alone too Green - to set his sights on the big one just yet.

Meanwhile, Mychal Massie of WND explains why America may not need Obama to the extent it is seemingly convinced . . . or at all.

It is true that Obama is a symbol of the change Americans want in government. He is a symbol of that which Americans are tired of and now want changed. I believe that Americans want leaders of substance. I believe that Americans want leaders who embrace the Constitution – leaders who understand the dream of our Founding Fathers and are willing not only to defend said dream, but work tirelessly and unapologetically to return us to it.

Americans are tired of so-called leaders who believe it's their duty to genuflect, curtsy and apologize for America being the greatest country in the world, party affiliation notwithstanding.

...

America does want change in government, but Barack Hussein Obama doesn't satisfy that desire. There is no difference between this anti-gun, anti-war, cut-and-run, abortion-on-demand opponent of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, proponent of partial-birth abortion and supporter of sex education for grades K-5 and every other liberal in Congress today. His positions on the death tax, raising taxes and crime may be packaged and articulated differently, but when you look beneath the veneer, his positions are in perfect keeping with those making a mess of government today.

Americans are tired of double speak and political correctness. They want leaders who are willing to stand up and speak for all of America – not opportunists who stand up and speak for Planned Parenthood or other feculent liberals intent on changing the country into a pissior of socialism.

I am once again inclined to issue an "amen." His whacko extremist-left, borderline socialist agenda for America aside, maybe the lovable, bright-eyed puppy dog from Illinois with the eagerly-wagging tail should focus on passing some significant legislation here and there before he thinks he's qualified to be Commander in Chief.

As an Illinois resident, I percieved Obama was more concerned with being a rock star than being my Senator in recent times; upon further consideration, he's a skilled lip-syncher, not even a real virtuoso.

High School Frustrations

I find more saddening than those with minimal intellectual capacity those who are considered ‘bright’ and accomplish nothing of lasting value. Too many punch their time-cards in six classes a day, take copious notes, memorize them, regurgitate them for excellent scores, and do not care. They take no time to reflect, or read, or think outside of their courseload requirements. Every day I see excellent students who are not learners and I weep for them. How can one so easily pass through life, be praised and rewarded for academic success, and yet care nothing for real things?

Bolton: Ahmadinejad "Inciting Genocide," Must Be Punished

A week after announcing his resignation from his U.N. post rather than serve ungrateful legislators with a second, unpaid recess appointment, John Bolton has already resumed making waves.

Per Mr. Bolton's usual, those waves are headed in the right direction:

The outgoing US ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, is backing a call for the president of Iran to be charged with inciting genocide because of his speeches advocating the destruction of the state of Israel.

It's about time the do-nothing international community addressed the growing problems in Iran. It's just a shame Ambassador Bolton will, soon, no longer be prodding along the lazy bureaucrats. The corrupt, do-nothing United Nations flatly refuses to address any issues of urgency or controversy; it prefers the obligatory annual photo shoot digging up old land-mines from civil wars past to taking action to stop civil wars present. The U.N. will not move to stop mass murder in the Sudan, calls for genocide in Iran, or any other injustice the addressing of which might draw any international criticism. Tyranny facism, oppression, and murder thrive unhindered by the United Nations, in no small part due to the fact that none of the nations committing the injustices happen to be America.

John Bolton will be sorely missed.

(Hat tip: Pamela.)
